NovForth neck warmer review: better than a scarf on the bike
A €13 fleece-lined tube that stops the wind going down your collar.
NovForth fleece-lined neck warmer
4.6 out of 5 from more than 22,000 ratings on Amazon.nl.
Why a neck warmer
Scarves unwind, flap and get caught. On a bike in a Dutch headwind, a tube that just sits around your neck works better. This one is knitted on the outside with a fluffy fleece-style lining inside.
What it's like
It's one size and stretchy, so it fits most adults. You can pull it up over your chin and nose on really cold mornings. The seller says to hand wash it, or use a laundry bag in the machine.
The downsides
The lining makes it fairly thick, so it can feel bulky under a slim coat collar. It's a simple product: don't expect technical fabric or windproof membranes.
Good
- Warm lining
- No loose ends on the bike
- Huge number of ratings
- Cheap
Not so good
- A bit bulky
- Hand wash recommended
My short video about it (also on TikTok and Instagram).
How I put this together: "Researched pick" means I haven't put it through long-term use myself. I've gone through the product specifications and a large number of buyer reviews, and I compared it with similar products. When I've used something myself, the page says so. Nobody paid for this review. More on how I earn money.
